Date & Time TBD via Zoom
Compassion-Based Resilience Training (CBRT) consists of eight weekly modules that introduce participants to the key science and skills for stress reduction and well-being. Each session includes mindfulness or compassion meditation, gentle movement or breathwork, review of the scientific or contemplative concepts underlying these practices, and group discussion. A student manual as well as recorded meditations and lectures by Dr. Joe Loizzo who designed the CBRT program will be accessible to participants throughout this course.

The CBRT curriculum is based on the contemplative tradition of the University of Nalanda in Tibet, as well as from modern neuroscience and positive psychology. Joe Loizzo, MD, PhD, adapted CBRT to the training it is today, and ran clinical trials at Columbia University and Weill Cornell Medical College to test the efficacy of CBRT in cancer patients. His research showed that CBRT reduces biomarkers of stress, improves quality of life, lowers social-emotional and cultural role stress, enhances resilience and overall functioning, and markedly decreases post-traumatic symptoms including intrusive thinking and traumatic avoidance.
